DIGITAL ENGINEERING FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
 

is the main subject of the Fraunhofer "Innovation Cluster" that Fraunhofer ITWM and IESE have initiated in cooperation with regional companies. It is set up in close cooperation with leading industrial partners such as Robert Bosch, Daimler, John Deere, Haldex Brake, Keiper, Schmitz Cargobull, GE Transportation Systems and Volvo. The aim is to enhance the research and development skills of the industrial partners and enable them to improve their engineering processes for system reliability.

The current project activities of the institutes together with industrial partners from the commercial vehicles industry form the basis of the Innovation Cluster DNT.


 

 

The spectrum of topics ranges from non-standard applications of commercial CAE tools and the design of proprietary development methods to consulting companies on the introduction of CAE technologies and the transformation of existing CAE-based processes.

In particular, the growing exchange of software information between nearly all important components results in a demand for methods that guarantee non-functional abilities (particularly reliability and safety). New, evolvable system architectures and cross-company organizational structures are necessary for that purpose.


 

The Fraunhofer Innovation Cluster "Digital Commercial Vehicle Technology" is funded by the European Union and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in the context of the Ziel 2-Programm Rheinland-Pfalz.
